Kylie Thompson
Kylie Thompson (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary performer, creator, educator, photographer and adjudicator residing in Toronto, Ontario. She considers herself an ally to the BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ communities and is committed to ongoing education, conversation and action towards equality and de-colonization of Western Dance practices. She is considered a leading educator for floorwork in the Canadian Dance Scene.
In the summer of 2024 she travelled to Berlin to participate in the B12 festival, furthering her training with US company Dual Rivet and with Floorwork Master Vasko Nasonov. She is also an accomplished choreographer; in 2023 her full length trio ‘Femmillennial’ toured internationally and was awarded Critic’s Pick “Best Dance Show” at the Orlando Fringe Festival.
Since 2017, she has produced numerous other contemporary stage pieces as well as short dance films; her credits include Dance: Made in Canada, Toronto Fringe, Vancouver Fringe, 40North Film Fest (California) and Videoskin Film Festival (Yukon), Danceworks, Screen:Moves. She served as a board member and vice-president on the board of Directors of CADA-East for 4 years.
Outside of her own creative work Kylie has performed in commercial and concert settings; in contemporary works by Hanna Kiel, Gadfly Dance Company, Alias Dance Project, Keren Rosenberg (Israel), Mate Meszaros (Hungary). She has performed for artists Finger Eleven, Classified, Airplane Boys and Kiesza, and choreographed a music video for Canadian Legends The Barenaked Ladies.
A passionate educator; she has taught and shared her knowledge of movement at countless different studios and dance companies across Canada; and is currently a proud faculty member at Studio North Toronto. She is an advocate for femme leadership in the arts space, and her love for community blooms when she hosts company training intensives for the professional and pre-professional dance communities.
