Kahvontay Slaughter
Kahvontay Slaughter is a Toronto based Afro-Indigenous artist, known for his emotional provoking performances and captivating stage presence. His exceptional talent has been recognized throughout his training and career in the arts, where he has had the privilege of working with notable instructors such as John Ottoman, Niki Wozniak, Patrizia Ferlisi, Amanda Donato, Kylie Thompson, and Jami Lynn Harper. He completed his final year of post-secondary dance studies at Centennial College under the artistic direction of Celestine Eagle, benefiting from mentorship by the esteemed Ming-Bo Lam. In 2016 and 2017, Kahvontay started his professional career as a featured dancer with Inamorata Dance Collective, and has since founded his own dance collective and has been performing as an independent artist across Canada and the US.
Kahvontay is not only an exceptional dancer but also an inspiring teacher. His teaching experience includes competitive studio instruction, guest faculty workshops and intensives, and school settings, including Centennial College. As the Founder, Executive Producer, and Artistic Director of Unapologetic Dance Collective, Kahvontay infuses his work with authenticity, and emphasizes sharing truths and vulnerabilities through movement as a means to share stories that resonate deeply with diverse audiences.
